Monoprints with a Pin Press

Monoprints with a Pin Press

Saturday, September 16
11am -1pm

Cindy will take you through the process of making monoprints using small plexiglass plates and a pin press.  This type of printmaking is very simple, and unlike other printmaking processes, it can be very painterly and immediate with surprising results.
Using brushes, stencils and a variety of drawing tools, Cindy will ink a plexiglass plate, then use the pin press  to ‘pull’ a print.  A second print (called a 'ghost' print) can also be made using the magical Akua ‘release agent’. If time allows people will have a chance to try their hand at making a print.
This demo will be followed by an introductory class offered later the same day (2 - 5) for those who wish to explore this medium further. Contact Cindy directly to sign up for the class.

Cindy Miracle holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Claremont Graduate School. She has taught courses in Fine Arts in numerous institutions, including San Jose State, De Anza Junior College, and The Gale Laurence Studio in San Francisco. Her artwork has been on exhibit in galleries and museums throughout the country, including the Renwick Gallery in the Smithsonian, Purdue University and more. Working in a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, casein, watercolor, encaustic, pen and ink, soft pastel and more recently exploring water soluble printmaking inks, she continues to discover new ways to use and combine a variety of mediums.
